Inheritance Tax & Probate Valuations
A significant part of our business, outwith the actual auctions themselves, is providing executors with written valuations for inheritance tax purposes (in Scotland) or probate (in England). We work with many firms of lawyers, solicitors and estate agents’ executry departments, and private individuals across the country, providing detailed, accurate, written valuation reports of chattels belonging to a deceased’s estate. Upon conclusion, we are often then instructed to assist in maximising the value of the estate by offering the chattels by auction.
We work promptly, and when instructed, our valuation reports are generally undertaken within a week and the report submitted within a few days following that. In conducting a visit to the property, the auctioneer or valuer will walk around room by room, making a detailed inventory of the items of value within each room. This report is then compiled into a document, which can include images too, and submitted to the instructing individual or firm along with a note of our fee. Our fees are competitive and are based on the time it takes to undertake and compile the valuation.
