The Dumfries Auction Centre
We moved into our current premises on the Irongray Road (off the A76) in 2006 but have been auctioneering in Dumfries & Galloway and the surrounding area since our incorporation in the late 19th century. Before our move to Irongray Road, our office was on the Whitesands and auctions were held in Annan and in the Easterbrook Hall at The Crichton Royal. Perhaps you have seen the auction room or a member of the team on one of the auction television programmes that we appear on? These include Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip, Dickinson’s Real Deal, Cash in the Attic or the much missed Flog It! Tune in to our new television series, The Edinburgh Auction House, following the Scottish team as they travel around the country searching for exciting lots to sell.

The Auctions
The Dumfries branch conducts around 30 auctions annually with these auctions falling into two categories - The Antique Auction and The Home Furnishing & Interiors Auction.
Antique auctions are held quarterly, typically with 400-500 lots on offer and bring together the best quality and higher value items identified by the specialist departments over the previous three-month period. These include silver, jewellery, clocks & watches, pictures with a particular focus on South West of Scotland artists, porcelain & pottery, 20th century design and fine furniture.
The remaining 25 or so sales in each year are the Home Furnishings & Interiors auctions (in the past, colloquially known as “general sales”) which are held fortnightly on a Tuesday. They start at 10am with viewing on Monday, the day prior, from 2pm until 5pm. These auctions are populated with items from house clearances, deceased estates and consignments from private clients. Here you will find decorative ceramics, jewellery, gold and silver, books, vintage trunks and cases, 20th century design, vintage and retro items, furniture, rugs, collectables, glassware, lamps, pictures and other chattels – a wide and eclectic selection with something for everyone. These auctions are now broadcast online, and bidding can be arranged by registering an account with ThomsonRoddick.com or via EasyLiveAuction.com. If you are looking for something in particular then give our staff a call or email and we will endeavour to assist.
If you have never bid with us before then see our "How To Bid" page.
