Sir Steven Runciman Automata Collection
Sir Steven Runciman (1903-2000) the distinguished scholar and historian, is particularly known for his renowned three-volume work on the History of the Crusades. However, he had many other much respected books and publications to his credit and his wide range of interests included a fascination for magic and the occult. Perhaps this was reflected in his enthusiasm for the mystery of the automata and he formed a select small collection of these at his Dumfriesshire home. The auctioneers are honoured to be offering this collection on the open market.
