Pair of Japanese silver and cloisonné vases (Meiji period, 1868 - 1912), the cylindrical bodies with flared necks, each decorated with sparrows amongst flowering branches of prunus and wisteria, rendered in silver wire overlay, on dark navy blue ground, Ando green enamel to the interior and base within white metal, lozenge device with letter M to the underside, signed to the underside rim, 12.5cm high, with original wooden export boxes.  (2)

Small loss to the rim of one vase. There are age-related marks and staining to the rims of both. Age-related wear to the visible part of the interior. Only very minor losses to the enamel. Crazing holes to the exteriors of both. Very minor losses to the enamels on the exterior. Further staining/marks to the underside. There is crazing and minor losses to the enamel on the undersides. One box does not close flush. There is age-related staining to both boxes.
