PT Barnum: General Tom Thumb souvenir medallion, white metal, by Allen & Moore, Birmingham, issued by PT Barnum 1844, obverse General Tom Thumb after the design by Charles Bauginet for the lithograph published 1844, obverse coach and horses, 38mm.
Provenance:  Phineas Taylor Barnum and Nancy Fish Barnum,  Mellors & Kirk 2018 along with a miniature photo album and baby rattle / pacifier. The photo album was a commercially sold souvenir of the time, marking the occasion of Tom Thumb's wedding to Lavinia Warren and contains 12 x tiny photos". The rattle is also Tom Thumb themed (made from Scottish silver?)

Major Tom Thumb (stage name) was born Charles Sherwood Stratton in 1838. An American born with Dwarfism, he achieved great fame as a performer under showman and circus pioneer PT Barnum.
