A fine archive 1872-74, Anthony Salvin, case papers, newspaper cuttings, reports on the case & actions, letters & papers regarding the dangerous state of his sewers at his tenanted property called The Grange in Alnmouth, Northumberland, which had resulted in the death from typhoid fever of a member of household staff of the tenant Captain Arthur Walker. The lot contains 3 autograph letters from Salvin at Stanwick, Darlington & Whitby, the original draft lease (1872) to The Grange, signed by Salvin & Arthur Walker & an 1874 agreement/notice to Walker, signed by Salvin, for the upkeep of the drains & sewers, several letters from Capt. A. Walker, The Grange & elsewhere, statements, reports by The Rural Sanitary Board, etc. An interesting lot of local Alnmouth history.
