A fine 19th century French Empire ormolu figural mantel clock by Gentilhomme, Paris C1810. The gilt case with ''Air Du Troubador'' music score on stand pediment above a figure of a musician and a lute. The eight-day striking movement with anchor escapement regulated by a disc bob pendulum with silk suspension, the circular white enamel Roman numeral dial signed Gentilhomme, Palais Royal a Paris to centre and with steel moon hands within a fine milled gilt bezel, the plinth base having applied central lyre flanked by creeping laurel wreaths and urns.
Gentilhomme is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working in Paris circa 1810/25. Height 36cm.
