Sir Walter Scott writing table, a Scottish late George III mahogany writing desk, the rectangular top inset with brown leather skiver having crossbanded moulded edge above three frieze drawers, the central drawer with pop up writing slope, the whole raised on square tapering supports capped by brass castors. A paper note inside the desk reads 'October 15th 1810 This table was sent me this day by Walter Scott, It has been used by him for many years and The Lay, Marmion, and Lady of the Lake was, for the greater part written on this desk to which this paper is posted, W Erskine', 148cm long, 92cm deep, 75cm tall. 
Provenance: Christies Edinburgh 9th June 1994 Lot 155.
