FORBES EDWARD & HANLEY SYLVANUS. A History of British Mollusca & Their Shells. 4 vols. 203 multi image eng. plates, as called for, mainly hand col. Half red morocco, marbled brds. 1853; with a pasted-in pencil cartoon of two grotesque figures by Edward Forbes (signed), an extensive & detailed two leaf manuscript letter, dated 1837 from Edward Forbes to the Marine Biologist Joshua Alder, two other tipped in manuscript letters, one from Forbes, other tipped in occasional manuscript notes & material throughout the vols. Bookplate of Alfred Merle Norman, clergyman & naturalist & ownership label of A. H. Turner. A good set with some interesting associations.
