19th century Chinese folding Mandarin fan with carved tortoiseshell sticks. Fourteen leaves painted on one side with Mandarin figures gathering in the pavilion gardens and on the reverse a Cantonese scene with figures watching Chinese warriors on foot and horseback. Two guards and fourteen tortoiseshell sticks carved and decorated with figures and foliage, original black lacquer box, length 18cm

The lacquer box is in very good condition throughout. The fan is in excellent
condition throughout with very little signs of wear. There is a 4.5 cm tear to one of the folds
